Letter of recommendation from the Regional Manager at my former radio station.
June 19, 2017
Dear Sir or Madam:
It is my pleasure to recommend Dahlia as your next hire.
My name is Steve Dubois. I'm the Regional Manager of Local Sales for Saskatchewan and Winnipeg at Corus Entertainment. I worked with Dahlia at Corus (CJOB) for nearly three and a half years, and continue to stay in touch with her. She was a ray of sunshine in the building and on the airwaves. She is honest, innovative, intelligent and hard-working. But more important, she knows how to use her talent and unique skill set to help her colleagues, company, and local community as well. A few examples are:
Terry Fox is a national hero in Canada and a hero to numerous countries around the world. He was born in Winnipeg, but never had a statutory holiday named in his honour. After Dahlia created a campaign that went viral, the provincial government named a statutory holiday after Terry. The Premier made the announcement on CJOB. This became national headline news - and was also picked up by CNN. Not only did this benefit the late Terry Fox and his charitable Foundation, but it also benefitted the local community and CJOB.
Dahlia had a signature segment called Thank Good People Friday (TGPF). Listeners would call in to say something nice someone did for them that week. A widow called, days after her husband's passing, to share the story of how a Rona employee helped him in his dying days. In typical Dahlia fashion, she secretly brought that employee on her show to thank him and reconnect him with the widow. This resonated strongly with listeners. And, in a case of happenstance, Rona is a client of the station. This social good exposure benefitted everyone.
From Dahlia’s awards for mental health awareness or for helping the community, to listeners calling into her show with unsolicited financial help for strangers in the community, to her in-studio conversations where guests she just met would seem like her long-time friends sharing their most personal stories, Dahlia's empathy always makes people feel comfortable and important. She is a true team player, and always manages to foster positive discussions on-air and off, bringing the best out of her guests, listeners, and colleagues.
I confidently recommend Dahlia as an asset for your team.
Regards,
Steve Dubois
