The Exception to the Wipeout Rule

If I hated you, and said that I planned to wipe you and your entire family out, would you call the police? Would the police set up a meeting with me to find out what – if anything – I did like about you, or anything in general? Would that make it better?

It may for President Obama.

Let’s start with the health care reform bill (don’t worry, we’ll move on quickly). It is the hot topic right now, which has been the breeding ground for a hate topic too: The wipeout.

Some Republicans are inciting violence against Democrats who supported the bill – they want the Democrats wiped out.

Just the other day Sarah Palin tweeted, “Don’t retreat, instead reload,” and directed people to her Facebook page. On a map, she identified 20 Democrats – and targetted them with crosshairs. These politicians have had their offices and homes vandalized, and have received death threats.

Whoopi Goldberg spoke out against this on The View today. [Disclaimer: It was on at the gym. I didn’t turn there. It was in front of me.] Anyway, Whoopi spoke out against the Republicans who are provoking Americans to “wipe out” the Democrats who voted in favour of health care reform.

She says, “When you say ‘wipe ‘em out’ and when you sort of gently suggest that people do stuff… We’ve seen this stuff before… We’ve seen planes go into buildings… This is dangerous….”

True.

Who else has used wipeout language?

Hitler.

Who else?

Here’s a hint: President Obama recently acknowledged his country’s rights to “peaceful” nuclear energy.

Here’s another hint: This man is famously quoted as saying that Israel “should be wiped off the face of the map.”

Still need a hint?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Yes, the president of Iran. The man who insists to destroy the Jewish state, and who lashes out at Muslim countries and leaders that acknowledge Israel. Ahmadinejad is quoted as saying, "Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury."

Iran, a country whose supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, called Israel a cancerous tumour earlier this month.

Iran sponsors terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas.

Obama finds the violence and threats over health care reform unacceptable. He sees what Republicans are against, and he condemns it. He doesn’t ask what they are for.

Obama knows what Iran and Ahmadinejad are against. They’ve been clear. They want to wipe out Israel.

Obama acknowledges that he knows this. In a speech he gave March 20th he speaks directly to the Iranian president.

“We know what you are against. Now tell us what you are for.”

So the President of the United States already knows what Iran is against - Israel. But that is not the deciding factor in whether or not he supports Iran’s nuclear efforts? He needs to know what Iran is for?

So if Iran is for apple pie and baseball, will that win Obama’s support? If Iran is for health care reform, will that win it? If Iran is for Bert instead of Ernie, will that win it?

Mr. President, it is quite simple. Iran is against Israel, and for its destruction.

In this same recent speech, Obama acknowledges Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy. A country with nothing but a bludgeoned and bloody history. In its eight-year war with Iraq, its behaviour was irrational, wasting over a million lives without any consciousness.

Iran is moving forward in developing nuclear weapons capability. This is agreed upon by both American and Israeli Intelligence. And Ahmandinejad is a man to whom Barack Obama has acknowledged the right to peaceful nuclear power?

Forget all the rumblings about enriched uranium… What about Iran’s peaceful ballistic missiles?

American intelligence knows for fact that Iran has expanded its scale, reach and sophistication of ballistic missiles. Who’s speaking up about this? Who thinks it’s scary that Israel is always under the threat of being wiped out? Who cares that it is always the target of crosshairs?

There is no tolerance for wipeout talk in America. American politicians and citizens speak out against it.

Why doesn’t anybody speak out for Israel?

(What about you, Whoopi?)

How long can Israel keep doing it?

How long can I keep doing it?

We’re tired.

We’re just too wiped out.

You and Launy have no idea what you're talking about with all these ridiculous analogies. World diplomacy has nothing to do with how police handle direct threats made by one human to another. If world leaders weren't willing to talk to and negotiate with one another, there would've been a nuclear war with Russia in the 60s, and I'm sure countless more conflicts. Obama attempting to open dialogue with Iran in NO WAY suggests he agrees with them or supports them. These situations are far more complex than the GW Bushes (or Schwarz's) of the world would like to believe.

to say i have no idea what i'm talking about with this "ridiculous" analogy is to disregard the facts and valid points and quotes i presented. to say you disagree with me, would have made more sense.

iran is a terrorist nation. its helpless citizens live in some of the worst poverty in the world, while its leaders waste money in a vile attempt to wipe israel off the map.

there is no room for diplomacy when dealing with terrorists. iran isn't willing to negotiate. by obama "opening dialogue" with them he is negotiating with terrorists - terrorists who have clearly stated their mission. this cannot be compared to the cold war. iran has already been attacking israel for years and years, supporting suicide bombers and terrorist groups who commit regular terrorist attacks on israel. iran is in "war" with israel.

yes these situations are far more complex than they appear - in a much worse way than you imagine.

First, I like your website.

Secondly, I don't agree with your analogy at all.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a nutbar that we can all agree on. The no-dialogue approach seems to be like George Bush's and we see how well that has worked so far.

I read the article, I think it basically echoes Shimon Peres' speech to Iran this week, however Shimon's was a bit more forceful (which I preferred). The line you quoted seems to be taken out of context to me.

It's a complex situation, as is all politics. The issue in Iran and that entire region is about the hate that is taught from early on and is engrained in their ideology. That needs to be changed going forward.

I pretty much agree with what Randy is saying politically.

Your article is entertaining and provokes a reaction either way. You should join Fox News. Oh, and balls.

eliad - first - thank you.

second - the no-dialogue approach is not just george bush, it is netanyahu (who is forced to some extent by world pressure to partake in certain dialogue), it is IDF... and from my perspective i agree that you should not negotiate with terrorists. you can't.

if someone is irrational, you cannot try to put that behaviour into a rational context. it's like trying to put 10 pounds of sugar in a five pound bag.

you are right. hate taught from an early age needs to be stopped. iran helps fund this throughout the middle east.

thanks for commenting. i appreciate your opinion and how you present it. but you know, we will just never agree on this.

btw... in regards to israel, i may be fox news... in regards to life... i'm so far left i'm off the scale of news networks.

and to your final comment. oh that kornhaber. his influence transcends politics.

Never say never, we may agree one day.

I don't know what the answer, but I don't feel that Obama is that bad.

Lastly, let me leave you with this:

"First you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women"

well obama has been trying to negotiate with iran. the yanks have been at it for decade. so has the eu. one cannot negotiate with iran. how much more proof is needed. obama is merely a fool who believes in what he does. this president has a total lack of understanding. every decision he has made has been a disaster. look at his record. he will go down in history as a complete yokel. his policies have made for a more dangerous world.may god have mercy on this man.dahla, i could not agree with you more.love your site

firstly.... why is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad supported in have nuclear weapons and saddam hussein was executed? personally I see no difference between them. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

Regardless of the politics dahlia is right!!!
What do you think the reaction would be if Britain wanted to wipe America off the map?? OUTRAGE!!!!
So why is it tolerated when Isreal is the target of hate in the middle east, What happened to the war againat terrorism?? does that only apply to Britain and America? and not the most victimised and terrorised country in the world?
Would obama support isreal having nuclear weapons?

It discraces me when i walk down the street and see free palestine posters, how about free isreal????
I think in relation to isreal the world is blinded to the truth or the world is to scared to "offend" the mid east, which seems to be the pinical of society these days.
