Happy birthday to me! Today, I finally turn one. Well, my dot com alter ego that is.

And, in honour of this milestone (or kilometrestone to my fellow Canadians), I would like to give a special gift - which may involve you. But, before I get to that...

One year ago, after some serious inspiration from the late Matt Cook, and after a serious car accident, in which I flirted with my expiration date, I accidentally started this Web site (which you can read about in my first post) and re-started my writing career.

As modest a goal as it may sound, I want to change the world. So, rather than compete in a beauty pageant, I write. (That, and when it comes to the swimsuit portion, my articles look great in bikinis.)

Dearest Lovelies...

Dearest Lovelies,

I know the stories have not come as frequently of late, they will again - soon. In the meantime, have you really checked out everything on here?

My portfolio? My suck-it Hollywood and the media page? My chocolate cake that is so healthy you can eat it for breakfast - and wash it down with a dinner of "french fries" and "ribs" - among many other ridiculous recipe innovations?

And of course, my virtual buffet of articles with everything from Mid-east politics to pop culture and beyond?

Now, if you have read it all, tell me what you want to read next. (Heck, even if you haven't read it all - let me know.) Remember, if you need a voice, I write very loud.

Stay in touch! And keep checking in for more stories, from my disruptive perspective.

My Dearest Lovelies,

I’m a very private person (who, oddly, will put my life in the most public of forums at times); nonetheless, today I write you, because I need your help.

By now, those of you who know me, or have read my bio, know that I am a dog-person. I love dogs – all dogs. Cute ones, little ones, big ones, fat ones, ugly ones… I love ‘em all.

My boy is also a dog-person. So of course, we have a cat.

ICU so you don't C Me

Dearest Lovelies,

I apologize for the time between articles, but my dad just had heart surgery yesterday. Triple bypass we thought. Then inadvertently found out today that it was quadruple. So thank you to the doctors for potentially saving my father's life, and for keeping such a good secret!

Anyway, he is still in the ICU, but things seem okay. Once things settle down, I'll whip up another order for all my lovelies.

Thanks for checking in, and keep checking back.

Meanwhile - if you haven't already - take a look around the site. Maybe something will whet your appetite.

Do Not Let This Die Too

The Animal Holocaust started a few days ago, and since has created a media firestorm. Now the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is storm(troop)ing back.

In the OSPCA’s first address to the media in the past couple days, as it avoided all calls and communication earlier, its chairman, Rob Godfrey said, "Yeah, the good news is that there's not gonna be mass euthanasia."

At the time of publishing, 99 animals had already been euthanized by the OSPCA’s Newmarket shelter, due to a highly treatable ringworm infection.

NINETY-NINE is NOT mass murder, Mr. Godfrey?

Imagine you lived in an apartment block and got a treatable infection.

Imagine this infection spread to most people in the building.

Imagine it was too expensive or time consuming to treat, so the governing body of the apartment complex decided that everybody in the building – whether infected or not with this treatable disease – had to be euthanized. Killed.

This is only imaginary, thank goodness. Because something like this would never happen… to humans.

Something like this is happening right now however, to dogs, cats, and other animals - about 350 of them.

Dear Readers,

One month ago, I accidentally created DahliaKurtz.com, and now I’m Always Write.

Like tripping over a banana peel and falling on your face, I happened over a few keystrokes and fell upon your eyes.

I never intended to create my own Web site. Well, that’s a lie. I always intended to create my own site. I just never did it... Until now... well, 30 days ago...

Oops, I accidentally created a Web site...

I don't know how this happened.

My dad was on his way over to help me buy groceries. (I was in a car accident a few months ago. Stupid me. I obeyed Ontario traffic laws... drove through a perfectly green light... and got hit by an SUV driven by a woman who ran a red. So, grocery shopping isn't the easiest task of late.)

Anyhoo, my dad was to arrive in a few minutes. I searched something on Google, with no intent of creating a Web site. And the rest is Web history.

This is just my first entry, and I'm still trying to doll up the site a bit. So this will be a short one, because now I have to (accidentally) finish working on the site. This is something I should have done a long time ago.

There are just some accidents, I really don't mind.
