Now, I have established a reputation as one who fights for her right not to vote, because regardless who wins most elections, I will be unhappy with the outcome.

It’s like asking me if I want pork or chicken for supper. I am vegetarian. I choose neither. And with all the pigs and chickens on our election ballots, there is no point for me to vote.

Quite frankly, though the mainstream parties in Canada run the left-centre-right gamut, they are each just slight variations of the other.

The NDP is as left-wing as a chicken with one wing (a right one), the Conservatives are as right-wing as the Liberals when catering to the popular vote, while the Liberals are quite liberal with their ineptness.

A while back, the world heard about Ashley Kirilow. A 23-year-old woman arrested for faking cancer to encourage others to give her money. This is shameful and deplorable. Stealing money from good Samaritans. Stealing money from those who need it.

So, why not arrest the biggest profit making not-for-profit in the world for stealing money too?

The word cancer applies to some 200 diseases associated with uncontrolled cell growth.

The research and development for the disease is associated with another cancer – greed.

Would it make any difference to you if someone were to say you only had 18 months to live, 18 years to live, or you would live to be 100?

What if you were just 12 years old and were asked this question?

Because that is what Heather Othick asked her then 12-year-old daughter Ellie - who was terminally ill with brain cancer.

To which Ellie replied, “I just want to be happy.”

So Heather never told her child that she was going to die.

It’s a story that has probably been heard by hundreds of thousands of people - if not more. But I’m going to tell it again, and I hope you do too, because Mandi’s life depends on it.

Back in March, you learned Matt Cook’s story: A young man’s inspirational battle against cancer. Well, Jeff Pister, his hockey coach from a few years back, read that story, and recently approached me to help raise awareness about his cousin, Yale hockey sensation, Mandi Schwartz and her battle against leukemia.

Sadly, Matt’s life couldn’t be saved. But, Mandi’s can – with your help.

"It's not like I'm leaving a legacy like Terry Fox, but I'd like to live my life in that honour."
- Matt Cook

Today I found out Matt Cook passed away. But, he did not lose his fight against cancer. Because Matt fought it, he won.

He didn't just win the fight for himself either; he won it for other people too.
